Would you like to sing in a sold-out Royal Albert Hall concert? Or perform a world-premiere, or sing alongside some of the best-known soloists in the business?
These are some of the experiences that could be awaiting you when you join Vivace.
You will sing a huge range of music in different venues - not just as a choir in Guildford, but as a visiting choir on one of our European or Britsh cathedral tours. Not just in churches, but in concert halls. And with more than 100 other people, professional orchestras and fantastic soloists.
From Bach to Broadway, classical to contemporary, give your singing (and ears) an amazing boost with new works and firm favourites, all under the friendly and experienced guidance of our Music Director, Barbara Höfling and our accompanist, Francis Pott.
If you are interested in joining us, why not email Becky Kerby, our membership secretary, at membership@vivacechorus.org, complete the Contact Form or chat with us on Facebook or Instagram? We would love to hear from you and are always happy to answer any questions you have.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7:15pm to 9:30pm at Guildford Baptist Church, GU2 4BE. You may think Mondays are early in the week, but trust us, this is the best possible kick-start to your week! You can come along for a few rehearsals to try us out, and then arrange an assessment (don't panic!) if you would like to join us.
There are car parks next to the church and also south of the Guildford Council buildings, accessible via Lawn Road.
Joining
Membership of the choir involves a simple vocal assessment with our MD taking less than 10 minutes, using music the choir is currently rehearsing. This ensures consistency and balance across the choir and also provides singers with positive individual feedback. You do not need to prepare anything and there is no sight-reading.
Questions?
How much does it cost to join the choir?
The subscription is £200 every year - which works out at around just £5 per rehearsal. Students can join for just £10 per year. We don't charge for the term in which you join.
Please talk to us if you have any issues with your subscription. We will try to help.
Do I have to buy my own music?
Usually you have the choice to hire or buy music. We have an online ordering system, so it's easy for you to place your order and your music will be waiting at the start of the first rehearsal for each concert.
