Verdi Requiem

Don’t miss this unique performance of Verdi’s Requiem in Guildford!

2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the first performance of this best-loved and most frequently performed choral works of all time – Verdi’s Requiem.

Playing their part in these celebrations, the Vivace Chorus, one of the leading choirs in the South of England, is performing this awe-inspiring piece alongside the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union and the National Symphony Orchestra. Massed voices, full orchestra and the amazing Verdi Drum all come together for this astonishing concert.

Verdi’s setting of the requiem mass has been described as closer to an opera than to traditional sacred choral music. It certainly shows the influence of his great operatic successes and is full of both dramatic and beautiful moments. With four professional soloists, including Claire Seaton, who thrilled audiences at Vivace’s last performance of the Requiem at the Royal Albert Hall, this is a night of extraordinary music making not to be missed.

The Vivace Chorus is also singing this work at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool in April, as part of a joint concert venture with the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union.
